Bluffton church holds celebration mass

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC)- St. Gregory the Great in Bluffton celebrated two of their sisters leaving the classroom as well as their five founders.

School Principal Sister Canice Adams was one of the schools founders and is retiring after 45 years in education. Sister Agnes Marie Winter is retiring after 43 years in the classroom.

Both were celebrated at a mass and then a picnic with the staff and students. The school said the sisters make a big difference.

Students raise money for leukemia patient's trip to Disney

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC)- Thanks to the help of Bluffton Middle School, an 8-year-old boy will soon take a trip to the happiest place on earth, Walt Disney World. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is making a dream come true for the child fighting leukemia.

The students at Bluffton Middle School raised more than $6,000 by participating in the Make-A-Wish South Carolina's Kid for Wish program. At a luncheon Friday, insurance company Trusted Choice announced they would be matching the funds. Even though he doesn't go to Bluffton Middle School, the students chose to donate to Leo Vannoni.

Burglary suspect sought in Bluffton

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC)- A suspect is sought in
Beaufort County after a burglary.

The Island Packet
reported that the burglary happened just before 12 p.m. Thursday on Haigler Boulevard
in Bluffton. The homeowner was not home at the time, but went to check on the
residence when the security alarm went off.

He said that when he
got there, he saw a man running from the property. All the items stolen have
been found. The suspect remains at large despite a brief manhunt.

Saturday night's drawing will offer the second highest jackpot in Powerball history.

Georgia Lottery officials say strong sales have bumped Saturday's Powerball jackpot from an estimated $475 million to an estimated $550 million. Tickets are $2 per play. Players can add the Power Play feature for $1 more per play.
